This painting was created for Baltic Radiation: The Art of Inspiration, an exhibition at the Houses of Parliament in London.
This painting is inspired by Latvia, where I lived a big part of my life — foggy mornings, beautiful forests, landscapes, and wildlife. As someone who spends most of her time drawing animals, it felt natural to represent Latvia through its wildlife and nature rather than famous places or buildings.
The hedgehog became the star of the painting. I wanted to capture a peaceful moment, surrounded by mist and the quiet atmosphere that so often inspires wildlife art.
This was also my first acrylic painting. Until then, most of my work had been created in other mediums, so this piece became both a tribute to Latvia and an opportunity to try something completely new.
